Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding projects. You will verify fit-up, inspect welds to AWS D1.1 and applicable codes, and maintain inspection logs.

This role requires travel to active job sites from Texas; overtime and night shifts may occur, with potential for CWI exam sponsorship. The position offers hands-on field inspection, documentation, and the chance to grow within the welding

Qualifications

• CAWI certification or 3+ years welding/inspection experience.
• Ability to read structural drawings and weld symbols.
• Familiarity with WPS/PQR documents and codes.
• Physically able to work at height and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before/during welding.
• Perform visual weld inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1/D1.5 or code.
• Maintain weld maps, logs, and daily reports.
• Coordinate NDT activities and record results.
• Flag rejectable indications for disposition.
