Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC is seeking a Level II Ultrasonic Testing Weld Inspector to ensure weld quality per AWS/ASME codes and customer specs. You will perform UT examinations, document results, review WPS/PQR, and support production by resolving weld defects in a manufacturing setting.

The role requires NDT Level II UT certification, familiarity with AWS D1.1, and ability to operate in a factory environment with PPE. Position is on-site in Chattanooga, TN.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands-on UT weld inspection experience across thicknesses 11ga to 3 inch.
• Experience inspecting welds to AWS D1.1 standards.
• NDT Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Inspect welds to AWS/ASME codes and project specifications.
• Perform and document UT examinations; interpret indications and report results.
• Review WPS/PQR and verify welder qualifications.
• Maintain inspection records, NCRs, and traceability documentation.
• Coordinate with production to resolve defects and support rework.

As a Weld Inspector, you will play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for quality and safety. You will be responsible for inspecting welds according to AWS/ASME codes and customer specifications, performing ultrasonic testing, and supporting production teams in resolving defects. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement and ensure our products meet stringent industry requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Inspect welds to AWS/ASME codes and project specifications
• Perform and document weld inspections, including ultrasonic testing (UT) examinations; interpret indications and report results
• Review welding procedure specifications (WPS/PQR) and verify welder qualifications
• Conduct & maintain inspection records, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and traceability documentation
• Coordinate with production teams to resolve weld defects and support rework/repair activities

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• Hands‑on experience performing ultrasonic testing (UT) weld inspections across thicknesses from 11ga to 3 inch
• Experience inspecting welds to AWS D1.1 standards
• NDT Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to access weld locations in tight or awkward positions
• Ability to work in industrial conditions (noise, heat/cold, fumes) while wearing required PPE

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience reviewing WPS/PQR documentation and verifying welder qualifications
• Experience maintaining weld inspection documentation, including inspection records, NCRs, and traceability documentation
• NDT certification or documented qualification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as needed to access welds
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
