WELDING Full Time INSTRUCTOR (Dekalb Campus)

This position involves teaching credit courses within the Welding and Joint Technology program in the Division of Industrial Technologies and Professional Services. Instruction includes day lectures and laboratory activities, with some courses potentially involving hybrid components via Blackboard. Classes are held at the GPTC Dekalb Campus. The instructor reports to the Division Dean.

The instructor must be able to:

  • Teach all phases of Welding and Joint Technology Curriculum
  • Teach high school students in dual enrollment programs and GPTC students
  • Evaluate students’ progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area
  • Provide professional instruction based on approved course syllabus
  • Prepare curriculum for coursework taught
  • Work daytime hours
  • Operate and maintain instructional equipment and trainers
  • Deliver training via lecture, hands-on, computer multimedia, online, and text
  • Maintain program certification requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or a related field from an accredited institution
  • At least three (3) years of field experience within the past seven (7) years
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexible work schedule to include days and evenings

Note: Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in Welding and Joining Technology from an accredited institution
  • AWS or related welding certifications
  • Postsecondary teaching experience
  • Online teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems

Minimum qualifications are determined by the discipline and accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed accordingly.
