Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of journey-level welding and fitting experience in industrial fabrication, construction, offshore, or pipeline work.
• Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW with ability to pass qualification tests in all positions (6G preferred).
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME IX, and ASME B31.3 requirements, WPS/PQR/WPQ documentation, weld symbols, and visual inspection criteria.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to learners; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to work overtime and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver welding and fitting curriculum as designed, following approved lesson plans and competency checklists.
• Teach SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW for structural and pipe applications.
• Teach layout, reading drawings, and pipe trade math; use fitting aids and torches.
• Explain weld symbols, WPS interpretation, preheat/interpass requirements, and inspection criteria.
• Coach trainees in booths and at stations; correct techniques and errors in real time.
• Adapt instruction for varying experience levels and progression paths.
• Prepare welder qualification tests and coordinate testing with QA/QC and outside labs.
• Maintain curriculum materials and ensure up-to-date content.
• Support safety training and maintain training records and schedules.
