Job summary

Prysmian in McKinney, TX is seeking a skilled welder to assemble subunits and weld components per blueprints. You will read drawings, verify measurements, and work with jigs and welding torches in a loud production setting.

Starting pay is $25/hr with a Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm shift, plus comprehensive benefits and a strong safety culture. Prior welding experience (stick, MIG/TIG) is preferred and ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• Ability to read and write the English language.
• Prefer industrial or manufacturing experience working with machine and industrial components.
• Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods.
• Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.
• Exposed to high voltage electricity and excessive heat.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift heavy objects and/or machine parts with or without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Positioning, aligning, fitting, and welding parts for subunits or complete units using jigs, hand tools, and welding torches.
• Reading blueprints and engineering drawings to determine project task sequences and requirements.
• Locating and marking work-piece cutting and bending lines, allowing for welding and machine shrinkage, stock thickness and specifications.
• Providing detailed instructions, drawings or documentation to explain construction, modification, maintenance, or fabrication.
• Studying blueprints to determine project task sequences and requirements.
• Adhering to safety procedures per OSHA requirements.
• Performing other related duties as required.
• Experience in stick welding, oxygen/acetylene torch use along with MIG/TIG experience.
