Job summary

General Motors in Michigan seeks a Manufacturing Welding Engineering Intern to evaluate and improve body shop welding, sealing and adhesive processes. You will support welding engineering for the body production organization and work with teams on process validation, equipment start-up and problem-solving to root causes.

The role emphasizes collaboration, technical development and participation in cost-improvement activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide welding engineering support to the Body production organization.
  • Knowledge of joining processes that may include spot, mig, plasma, laser welding.
  • Provide plant floor troubleshooting, training and problem solving to root cause analysis.
  • Be a technical resource for manufacturing engineers, skilled trades and production teams.
  • Process validation experience with new equipment build, installation and start-up.
  • Coordinate guidance from internal/external customers to meet customer needs.
