Qualifications

  • Experience with midstream pipeline welding and NDE is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for welding, fabrication, inspection, and NDE.
  • Develop, review, and approve welding procedures and welder qualifications.
  • Update welding/NDE specifications, procedures, and manuals.
  • Conduct welding and NDE audits of vendors and facilities.
  • Review and approve WPS, PQR, and related documentation.
  • Support pipeline integrity programs through anomaly assessments and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

We are currently looking for a Welding Engineer for our Houston, Texas office.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Support the Asset Integrity and Pipeline Safety team by performing technical tasks related to welding procedures, anomaly assessment calculations, and materials verification. This role assists with analysis and documentation necessary to maintain the integrity and regulatory compliance of the pipeline system.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for pipeline welding, fabrication, inspection, and NDE, during pipeline construction, maintenance, operations, and repair activities.
  • Develop, review, and approve WPS(s), PQR(s), and welder qualifications.
  • Develop and update company welding and NDE specifications, procedures, and manuals.
  • Conduct welding and NDE audits of vendors, contractors, fabrication facilities, and construction activities.
  • Review and approve welding and NDE documentation including WPS(s), PQR(s), welder qualifications, fabrication drawings, and NDE specifications.
  • Support pipeline integrity programs through anomaly assessments and repair evaluations.
  • Drive implementation of industry best practices and ensure compliance with new regulations and industry standards.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Working knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, SAW, FCAW, GTAW) and NDE inspection techniques (RT, UT, MT, PT).
  • Working knowledge of API 1104, ASME Section IX, and other related welding and inspection standards.
  • Ability to evaluate technical data, develop technical recommendations, and support engineering assessments.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% to field locations and vendor/contractor facilities as required.
Required Education
  • BS in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting midstream pipeline operations including pipeline construction, inspection, manufacturing/fabrication methods.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or other related certifications.
  • Working knowledge of CFR 192 and 195, ASME B31.8 and B31.4, and other related industry regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Experience conducting anomaly assessments (ASME B31G, RSTRENG), and evaluating pipeline repair methods.
Preferred Education
  • MS in Welding Engineering or Metallurgy or Materials Engineering.
