Job summary

Russells Technical Products is seeking a Welder/Assembler for 1st shift to review drawings, prepare materials, and assemble cabinet components using welding techniques. You will read work orders, prepare parts, drill holes, fit hardware, seal joints, and ensure welds meet prints.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and MIG/TIG/spot-welding experience; welding certification is preferred. This position is full-time, on-site, with a likely hourly wage of $20.00–$23.00.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and follow department work instructions.
• Basic math and measuring skills.
• Knowledge and/or experience in MIG/TIG and spot-welding techniques.
• Experience using basic hand and power tools preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• One or more years of experience using MIG/TIG and spot-welding techniques preferred.
• Welding certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, prints, and work orders.
• Identify required materials and components.
• Drill and punch holes.
• Assemble basic cabinet panels and sections.
• Install brackets, supports, stiffeners, and reinforcements.
• Install hinges, latches, handles, and other hardware.
• Install insulation or insulation supports as required.
• Seal seams and joints.
• Apply caulking or other sealants.
• Label and organize components for assembly.
• Prepare completed cabinet sections for the next department.
• Read, comprehend and follow Department Work Instructions.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to properly setup and use welding machines (TIG, MIG and Spot) for the proper material type and thickness.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to identify proper welding technique required, for example, proper weld temperature, speed and penetration for the required material type and thickness.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to properly weld the following normally used materials: 20-, 16- & 12-gauge 304 stainless steel, 16-gauge 316L stainless steel, 20-, 16- & 12-gauge Cold Rolled Steel (CRS), 7-gauge and ¼” Hot Rolled Steel (HRS), 3/16” Hot Rolled Steel (HRS) Angle and Channel, 16- and 12-gauge Paintloc galvanized steel.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to properly prepare parts and materials for the required welding procedure. May perform some assembly functions.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to correctly fabricate weldments that are square and true to the provided print(s).
