Job summary

John Deere Waterloo Works is seeking a Building Repair & Welding Maintenance employee. Responsibilities include carpentry, welding, and steel repair to construct, repair, and maintain buildings, warehouses, tools, dies, and equipment in a safety-focused production environment.

The role requires experience with blueprints, welding processes, cutting torches, and the ability to work overtime and in a team. Applicants must meet minimum education and experience criteria and be 18+.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED or NCRC or 3 years manufacturing experience.
• At least 2 years of millwright or iron work experience.
• At least 2 years laying out, fabricating, repairing steel structures and reading blueprints.
• Welding certification or 2+ years welding experience.
• 1 year setting up and using cutting torches (Oxy-acetylene).
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift for full shifts; willingness to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry, steel, and welding in building repair and maintenance.
• Plan jobs, obtain materials, use jigs/fixtures for work.
• Repair/maintain buildings including plaster, concrete, masonry, framing, roofing, steel.
• Maintain internal infrastructure like tracks, conveyors, rails, switches.
• Prepare parts for welding; use jigs and fixtures; select welding process.
