West Georgia Technical College is seeking a Welding Adjunct Instructor to teach Welding and Joining Technology across multiple campuses. The role pays $27.00 per contact hour and may include morning or evening shifts, Monday through Thursday.

Courses are delivered face-to-face, in lab, or blended as required by the college schedule. Selected candidates will prepare syllabi, assess student progress, and maintain program accreditation with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of experience in welding and joining.
• Must be able to pass a welding test; some locations require an additional pipe welding test.
• Valid driver's license.

Job Description

Locations Available: Carroll Campus, Coweta (CEC) Campus, Douglas (CCI) Campus, Franklin Site, Greenville Site, LaGrange Campus, and Murphy Campus

Job Summary: Adjunct faculty are responsible for presenting instruction in the specified subject area. The payment method is based on contact hours, with a rate of $27.00 per contact hour. Instruction provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Welding and Joining Technology in accordance with academic state standards. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Welding and Joining Technology. Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry. Instructs face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads. Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template. Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner. Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues. Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline. May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom course delivery. Selected candidates must be able to work morning or evening hours, Monday through Thursday.

Required Education and Experience

Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution. Three (3) years of experience in welding and joining. Must be able to pass a welding test; some locations will require an additional pipe welding test. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associate degree in Welding & Joining Technology or related field from an accredited institution. AWS or related welding and joining certifications. Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Online teaching experience.

Pay & Benefits

$27.00 per contact hour. All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions offered on a per-semester basis based on the needs of the college. Adjunct positions do not include benefits or promises of future full-time employment. All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated.

Safety and Technology

Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Welding and Joining Technology program. Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order. Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools. Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.

Curriculum/Student and Program Learning Outcomes

Prepares course curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives. Prepares lesson plans for instruction. Works collaboratively with faculty within the discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success, and submits to the Welding and Joining Technology Program Director.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
