Job summary

Bass Cat is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to analyze specifications, lay out material, and set up and operate MIG welding equipment to assemble trailer components.

The role covers metal fabrication, plasma cutting, grinding, drilling, and basic maintenance; you will inspect welds, ensure safety devices are used, and move finished products to the correct locations in a non climate-controlled shop in Mountain Home, AR.

Qualifications

• Experience with MIG welding to specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and layouts.
• Ability to operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Safety-sensitive role; adherence to PPE and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate trailer components via MIG welding and metal fabrication.
• Create quality welds and inspect welds for accuracy.
• Prepare parts by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting.
• Operate plasma cutting and oxy-acetylene torch as needed.
• Identify and move finished products to correct locations.
• Ensure equipment is set up properly and safety devices are used.
• Perform inspections and monitor equipment; request maintenance as needed.
• Conduct hydraulic and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Carry out basic maintenance and other duties as required.

Job Purpose

Analyze specifications, lay out material, set up and operate welding equipment, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate a trailer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Metal Fabrication.
• MiG welding, including the following:
• Create quality welds according to specifications.
• Inspect welds for accuracy.
• Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel parts.
• Change wire, welding, as needed.
• Change gas tanks, as needed.
• Plasma Cutting.
• Oxygen/Acetylene torch.
• Responsible for the proper identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location.
• Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
• Operate fork lift, if required and trained.
• Performs first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by standards.
• Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
• Hydraulic Diagnostic and Repair.
• Electrical Diagnostic and Repair.
• Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
• Perform other duties, assignments, and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environment.
• Be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary to move equipment around in the department.
• This is a safety sensitive position.
