Job summary

Bass Cat & Yar-Craft Boats is seeking a skilled fabricator to lay out materials and set up welding equipment to fabricate a trailer component. The role involves MIG welding and metal fabrication in a non-climate-controlled environment.

You will inspect welds, prepare parts, and perform routine maintenance and diagnostics to ensure timely production while adhering to safety standards and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with MIG welding according to specifications.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and layouts.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Safety-conscious in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding to create quality welds per specs.
• Inspect welds for accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare parts by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting.
• Change welding wire and gas tanks as needed.
• Operate plasma cutting and oxy-fuel torches.
• Move finished products and inspect pieces per standards.
• Ensure equipment safety and proper setup.
• Operate a forklift when trained.
• Perform first piece and ongoing inspections.
• Monitor equipment and request maintenance.
• Perform hydraulic and electrical diagnostics and repair.
• Conduct simple maintenance and other duties as required.

Analyze specifications, lay out material, set up and operate welding equipment, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate a trailer.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Metal Fabrication.
• MiG welding, including the following:
• Create quality welds according to specifications.
• Inspect welds for accuracy.
• Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel parts.
• Change wire, welding, as needed.
• Change gas tanks, as needed.
• Plasma Cutting.
• Oxygen/Acetylene torch.
• Responsible for the proper identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location.
• Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
• Operate fork lift, if required and trained.
• Performs first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by standards.
• Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
• Hydraulic Diagnostic and Repair.
• Electrical Diagnostic and Repair.
• Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
• Perform other duties, assignments, and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environment.
• Be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary to move equipment around in the department.
• This is a safety sensitive position.
