Job summary

Baltimorefab is seeking a skilled welder to fabricate steel staircases, railings, gates, and structural components. The role requires reading welding drawings and performing joint prep according to welding specifications, using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW processes, and related equipment.

Ideal candidates will hold a High school diploma, 4G certification, and be able to lift 50+ lbs while maintaining quality and safety standards in a factory setting.

Job description

Job Summary:

Position includes welding out fabricated items including steel staircases and railings, stainless steel, aluminum, structural steel beams and columns, gates and fencing, bollards, lintels and framing. Welders also perform necessary joint preparation per welding specifications.

Essential Job Functions:

• Inspect and test welds and equipment. Check welds for durability as well as meeting specified standards. Inspect and examine to determine if repairs or new equipment is needed.
• Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications.
• Knowledge of industry safety practices.
• Knowledge of specific welding processes, such as TIG, MIG and ARC.
• Ability to use and knowledge of specific welding machines and ability to set welder to correct specifications.
• Weld Stainless Steel and Aluminum handrails, guardrails, tube, pipe and structural members.
• Adherence to Behavioral and Conduct standards.
• Adherence to Safety protocols.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Ability to weld in both flat and vertical positions SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
• Organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
• Ability to set up and set welding machine to correct setting per specifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to prep joints per specifications.
• 4G certification in SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols.
• Basic inspection knowledge.
