Job summary

Hilton Tool LLC, a manufacturer of precision machined components and structural steel fabrication, seeks skilled welders/fitters for a full-time shop position in Oregon. You will work in a fabricating environment, read drawings, and perform welds across FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes in multiple positions.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality, following safety policies, and collaborating with a team under supervision of the Shop Foreman.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of welding experience across FCAW, SMAW and GMAW.
  • Experience using welding procedure specifications (WPSs).
  • Background in structural steel welding and fabrication shop.
  • Experience with heating/burning processes (torch/plasma).
  • Understanding of basic weld symbols.

Responsibilities

  • Welder Class A: produce quantity and quality welds in at least 3 positions and 3 processes; maintain defect rate under 3%.
  • Welder Class B: weld code and non-code work in flat/horizontal positions using FCAW/SMAW/GMAW.

Welder/Fitter: Hilton Tool is a Manufacturer of Precision Machined Components. Specializing in close tolerance parts, assemblies, prototyping, production runs, CAD design. Hilton Tool, and/or its affiliate Companies, also will engage in complex steel fabrication.

Welders will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding lace equipment. This position falls under Worker’s Compensation Code #5057 and takes place in a permanently located shop in which the Welders engage in the fabrication or assembly of structural iron or steel products such as bars, I-beams, channels, angles, tees, plates and other large metal members of a structure. In general, each fabrication project that we participate in is unique. These products are subsequently used by others in the construction of structures.

The fabricating these Welders do mean the laying out of the pieces, and the marking, cutting, sawing, drilling, punching, bolting, welding and assembly of the pieces into finished structural steel products.

Job Type: Full-time Monday-Thursday: 5am-3:30pm Friday: Overtime as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities/Reporting:
  • No supervisory responsibilities
  • Reports to the Shop Foreman.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Welder Class A: Produce quantity and quality welds in at least 3 positions and 3 processes. Able to air arc correctly and weld with a failure rate of less than 3% on all fillet and groove welds. Must be able to work with very little supervision. o Pay Range: $32-42 per hour
  • Welder Class B: Produce acceptable fillet and groove welds on code work using FCAW, SMAW and GMAW processes in the flat and horizontal positions, able to air arc correctly and make acceptable fillet welds on non-code work in the vertical position. o Pay Range: $27-31 per hour
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Employee is required to report to work able to perform their duties in a drug free state.
  • Report to work on time and complete entire shift.
  • Must exhibit safety values consistent with State and Federal rules and regulations as well as adherence to the companies’ safety policies. Must maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Performs work as part of a team and must have an attitude that allows the employee to cohesively belong to the team effort.
  • Must be able to listen attentively to supervision and follow direction accurately and timely.
  • Must be able to learn from supervision, mentors and day to day work practices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Employees must develop to, and maintain, the companies’ safety and quality standards.
  • The position requires good accurate communication skills in both directions listening to supervision as well as communicating back to supervision.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings.
  • Must abide by the Company’s safety policy at all times and promote a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Position requires employee to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in and be proficient at FCAW, SMAW and GMAW welding processes
  • Experienced in the use of WPS's
  • Previous experience in structural steel welding and fabrication shop
  • Must have experience in heating/burning processes, most torch and plasma use.
  • Must have experience in and understand basic weld symbols.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping and carrying materials.
