Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC in Talladega, AL is hiring a Welder for our Lumber facility. Starting pay is $27.00–$30.00 per hour, with a $5.00/hour shift premium for Fri–Sun and overtime rules apply. 12-hour shifts and a chance to increase compensation based on skills and contribution to mill performance.

The position requires the ability to work in a hot, noisy environment and to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 60 pounds. Orientation and shift assignments will be provided.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of welding experience.
  • Experience with TIG, MIG, Arc, and oxy-fuel welding.
  • Must produce welds that are 100% x-ray quality and visually acceptable.
  • Must know how to clean welds with a buffer or grinder.

Responsibilities

  • Operate welding processes in a hot, humid, noisy plant environment up to 12 hours per day, standing for long periods and lifting up to 60 pounds.

Salary
  • Our starting pay is at $27.00 - $ 30.00/hour depending on experience.

Shift
  • Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • 12 hours shifts. Weekends, Thursday – Saturday (every other Sunday), 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • The week of orientation will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and you will be assigned your regular shift after your orientation.

What You Will Do
  • Work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment up to 12 hours per day. Stand for extended periods of time and lift/carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
