Job summary

Vitality Staffing Solutions LLC in New Jersey seeks a reliable Welder/Fabricator to inspect, repair and modify steel intermodal containers, chassis, and related equipment at our facility. Strong MIG, FCAW or SMAW welding skills and a hands-on problem-solving mindset are required.

You will work with corten and mild steel, read basic drawings or repair orders, and strictly follow OSHA PPE rules. Lifting up to 50 lbs and outdoor/warehouse conditions apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of professional welding experience in structural steel or related field.
• Ability to perform MIG, FCAW, or SMAW welding in various positions.
• Experience reading blueprints or repair orders.

Responsibilities

• Welding & fabrication on corten and mild steel containers using MIG, FCAW, or SMAW.
• Repair damaged sections and weld patch plates on container walls, roofs, doors, and crossmembers.
• Straighten bent doors, replace hinges, and ensure weather-tight seals.
• Prepare surfaces with grinders/plasma cutters and apply primers/paint after repairs.
• Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and wear PPE at all times.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and safety-conscious Welder / Fabricator to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and modifying steel intermodal shipping containers, chassis, and related equipment at our facility. If you have strong dual-shield or stick welding skills, experience with heavy structural steel, and enjoy hands‑on problem‑solving, we want to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities:

• Welding & Fabrication: Perform high-quality MIG (GMAW), Flux-Cored (FCAW), or Stick (SMAW) welding on corten and mild steel containers.
• Container Repair: Cut out damaged sections, prep metal surfaces, and weld patch plates on container walls, roofs, doors, and crossmembers.
• Structural Modification: Straighten bent door frames, replace hinges, repair locking bars, and ensure containers are completely weather‑tight and secure.
• Preparation & Finishing: Use angle grinders, plasma cutters, oxy‑acetylene torches, and air chippers to prep steel. Apply protective primers and paint to completed repairs.
• Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to all OSHA safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of professional welding experience, ideally in structural steel, heavy equipment repair, or container maintenance.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in vertical and overhead welding positions. Ability to safely operate plasma cutters, grinders, and torches.
• Blueprints: Ability to read basic structural drawings or follow spoken/written repair orders accurately.
• Certifications: AWS certification is a major plus but not strictly required if you can pass our in‑house weld test.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in outdoor/warehouse weather conditions, and spend long periods standing, kneeling, or bending.
