Job summary

Petrosmith-Equipment is seeking a frontline fabrication associate in Abilene, TX to grind, polish, sand, and sharpen welded parts to match customer prints. You will keep your work area clean and safe while handling materials and supporting the pipe department workflow.

Responsibilities include assisting welders, moving necessary inventory, and contributing to continuous process improvements in a fabrication environment. A high school diploma and welding certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of equipment experience, grinding and welding processes.
• Understanding of fabrication fundamentals and their application to structural pieces.
• High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Grind, polish, sand and sharpen welded parts to meet customer prints.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area and follow safety rules.
• Move inventory and parts to/from the pipe department; assist welders.

Responsibilities

• Grind, polish, sand and sharpen welded parts to ensure conformance to established customer needs and prints
• Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition. Follow all safety work rules.
• Handle assorted raw materials, steel parts, and steel scrap.
• Performs precision smoothing, sharpening, polishing, or grinding on a variety of welded assemblies
• Responsible for the movement of necessary inventory and parts to and from the pipe department.
• Assist Welders; Participate in and support continuous process improvements.
• Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the classification.

Skills

• Proven experience with hand tools and equipment
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Knowledge of relative safety standards
