Gordon Incorporated in Bossier City, LA seeks a Welder to join its fabrication team. You will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment, performing MIG & TIG welding per drawings and specifications.

The role requires reading blueprints, measuring with tape, and maintaining high precision. You will work in a team, ensure safety, and keep tools and area organized for efficient production.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• MIG & TIG welding
• Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
• Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
• Make sure floor is free of obstructions, maintain good housekeeping.
• Maintain orderly tool area.
• Follows all safety rules.
• Understands and follows Job Safety Analysis for this position.
• Wears welding helmet and eye protection and any other designated PPE.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair. This includes Architectural metals: Aluminum Extrusions, Aluminum Plate-Light (.020) through Heavy (.125) gauge, Plain Carbon Steel – Gauge Material ranging from 10-ga. To 28-ga, Stainless – 304 / 316 light through heavy gauge
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
• Fit and weld according to drawing specifications
• Successful weld test required.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
• Detail-oriented and consistent.
• Works well as a productive member of a team.
• Ability to properly maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment.
• Must be able to read a tape measure
• Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
