Job summary

ColonialWebb in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install and weld piping systems for steam, hot water, heating, cooling and industrial processing projects. You will read drawings, select pipe types, and plan installation while ensuring quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain AWS 6G certification through ColonialWebb
• Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding
• Experience with cutting and assembling pipe
• Knowledge of welding rods and fluxes
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Ability to work from drawings, submittals and specifications

Responsibilities

• Weld pipes/metals with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methods
• Determine required equipment and welding methods using metallurgy knowledge
• Select pipe type and size per job specs
• Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions
• Assemble and install metal pipe and fittings (carbon steel, stainless steel)
• Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets and hangers
• Test piping systems for leaks and inspect gauges
• Remove slag and finish surfaces with grinder or file
