Position Summary

Perform GTAW welding process to join metallic edge joints of sheet metal with semi-automatic/mechanized welding machines.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain semi-automatic GTAW welding machines and related equipment to join weld grooves.
  • Prepare components for welding to ensure quality welds are achieved.
  • Perform basic adjustments of weld and machine settings within the weld schedule parameters to achieve quality welds.
  • Utilize provided positioning and adjust fixtures, attachments, or workpieces on machines using hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Monitor weld quality throughout the process to ensure finished products meet quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate work records and logs to document performance and results of weld operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • Identify and recognize potential welding operation variations, work to eliminate variations, and seek assistance when needed.
  • Assist in implementing new methods and techniques to improve processes and product quality.
  • Ensure quality productivity standards are followed.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, follow supervisor instructions, interact well with co-workers, work in a team environment, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies, accept constructive feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent education and experience. Technical school or training is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic TIG welding.
  • Basic knowledge of AWS D17.1 and ability to certify in the 1G position.
  • Ability to read and comprehend traveler instructions, procedures, and drawings.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to apply mechanical and mathematical skills as necessary.
  • Ability to utilize shop hand tools and measuring devices such as wrenches, calipers, and micrometers.

Pay Rate: The final salary will depend on factors such as experience, education, location, and industry background.
