Summary: Responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely and interacts with supervision. Works with precise limits and standards of accuracy.

Typical Responsibilities and Duties:

• Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
• Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
• Efficiently produce quality welds.
• Perform or assist with fit-up and preparation of welds.
• Perform or assist with post-weld cleanup, inspection, and repair.
• Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns on the jobsite.
• Comply with all Matrix safety policies and programs.
• Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions to eliminate or minimize hazards.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Specialty Vessel Welders must pass the following weld tests:

• 9% Nickel Plate Test: FCAW (ENiCrMo3T1-4) - 2G, 3G, 4G; FCAW (ENiCrMo-6) - 2G, 3G, 4G

Tank Welders must pass the following weld tests:

• Carbon Steel Plate Test: SMAW E6010 (5P) 3G, Downhill; SMAW E7018 – 2G, 3G, 4G
• Maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams.
• Read prints and written instructions; follow verbal directions.

Qualifications:

• Tank Building experience preferred.
• Must pass drug testing and background screening.
• Obtain and maintain Basic Safety Council certifications.
• Complete Matrix Service Basic Safety and site-specific training.
• Valid TWIC card required.
• Fire retardant clothing may be required.
• Maintain facial hair standards for respirator seal (site-specific).
• Willingness to travel/relocate and work overtime.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work at heights, perform heavy lifting, and work in confined spaces.
• Work involves prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Able to perform tasks in extreme temperatures.
