Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking skilled welders for the Weld Shop. We have openings for 4 Welders J1 - J4. Shift hours are 0600–1445 with a 45-minute lunch break.

Requirements include welding HY-80/HY-100 base metals, proficiency in SMAW, GMAW and FCAW, ability to read weld gauges, and use hand tools. No security clearance required. General Dynamics NASSCO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of welding on HY-80 & HY-100 base metals.
• Proficiency with SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding processes.
• Quality welds acceptable for NDT; able to weld steel, aluminum, copper-nickel, stainless steel.
• Ability to read weld gauges.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Some guidance from supervision will be needed.
• Must know standard item 1689 and 5S guidelines.

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Weld Shop. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for 4 Welders J1 - J4. The hours are 0600 to 1445 with a 45 min lunch.

GUIDELINES FOR STRUCTURE WELDER

JOURNEYPERSON 4 (Welder)

• Should have knowledge of welding on different types of base metals (HY-80 & HY-100).
• Know the different wire and gas combinations.
• Should be proficient in using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
• Quality of weld should be acceptable for N.D.T. should be able to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, stainless steel.
• Should be able to read weld gauges.
• Should be able to use hand tools.
• Some guidance from supervision will be needed.
• Must know standard item 1689 and the guide lines of 5 S.
