General Dynamics NASSCO welds shell plating, fabricated cast or forged components for vessels, tanks or structural assemblies, following specifications. The role includes related tasks, some essential to the position, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Applicants should be able to qualify in FCAW processes 71T-1 and 811N3, work at heights or in confined spaces, and understand English instructions. The team operates in a shipyard setting with regular shifts and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must be able to qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in the three positions.
• Knowledge of welding characteristics of metal.
• Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces, and any assigned shift.

Responsabilités

Job Summary

Qualifications Standards

Previous experience or training is required.Must be able to qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in the three positions.Knowledge of welding characteristics of metal.Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces, and any assigned shift.Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English). Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.

Materials, Tools, Equipment, Work Aids

Welding machinery, hand tools, high reach equipment and semi auto equipment.Personal protective equipment required.

Physical/Mental Involvement

Frequent to continuous lifting of welding equipment.Standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, hearing and occasionally lowering self into confined spaces, crawling through small openings and working in reclined positions, as needed.Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships. Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.

Marginal Job Tasks

General housekeeping in work areas.May be required to attend safety, quality and/or process improvement meetings.

Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures, and low ventilation conditions, all of which can cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties. Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts and high levels of constant noise.

PAY SCALE

$33.76 - $37.11

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
