Job description

Position Overview

The Welder Technician IV is responsible for performing expert-level welding tasks in a variety of repair and fabrication work in mechanical and fluid systems in preparation for launch operations. This role involves aligning and welding components of metal tools, wires, fixtures, and other metal products, including structural, hydraulic, zirconium, stainless steel, and other components, while utilizing different types of welding systems and performing expert equipment setup and maintenance. The technician will use precision measurement tools, adhere to shop safety best practices, and follow detailed work instructions derived from technical drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Perform expert-level cutting, trimming, fitting, and fabricating weldments to required dimensions.
  • Lead and mentor welding projects, collaborating with engineers to assess weld procedures, material types, setups, and approaches.
  • Utilize welding systems according to technical drawings and detailed work instructions to meet procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
  • Use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances and fabricate fixtures, including non‑flight parts with standard alloys and complex geometry.
  • Adhere to shop safety protocols, including PPE, 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
  • Record daily work completion accurately, report to the lead technician, and contribute to enhancing operations, minimizing turnaround times, and streamlining workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Typically 8+ years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and complex geometry.
  • Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
  • Ability to follow correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.
  • Expert understanding of welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and orbital arc welding.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal training or education in welding or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical, basic computer, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in an aerospace manufacturing or welding environment.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
Compensation

Pay Range: $32.55 – $44.77 (actual base compensation will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness).
