Job Description

Must have knowledge of TIG welding with some MIG experience. Able to read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications. Proficient in the use of electric and air tools. Experience working with stainless steel and sheet metal. Able to work with 16-18 gauge material. Good with structural welding from ½” to 6”. Fluxcore welding is a plus. Candidates will be given a welding test on TIG, MIG, and structural welding.

Position Summary

Working under the direction of the Welding Lead, the Welder III completes projects with little or no supervision. Performs various welding processes using electric resistance, oxyacetylene, or plasma-arc torches. May assign work to other welders and check their work. Welds metals and alloys of various shapes, sizes, and thicknesses, selecting appropriate welding electrodes to ensure proper penetration and fusion. Welds metal components to fabricate or repair products according to blueprints, layouts, or work orders, in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.

Essential Job Duties
  1. May give work assignments and provide guidance to other Welder staff as assigned.
  2. Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  3. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using processes such as TIG and MIG.
  4. Specialize in certain types of welding such as custom fabrication, structural construction, or production welding.
  5. Use electric and air tools and power tools as required.
  6. Scan all jobs through the Made2Manage (M2M) system.
Other Duties
  1. Operate plasma cutting machine as needed.
  2. Assemble subassemblies as needed.
  3. Operate forklift, electronic pallet jack, or hoist.
  4. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience as a Welder II, or a welding certification with three years of welding experience, along with some college or industry courses in welding.
  • Desirable: Five years of machine shop experience.
  • Working knowledge of welding materials and equipment.
  • Desirable: Forklift, pallet jack, and hoist experience.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
