Main Responsibilities

• TIG welding during the manufacturing of Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Ion Pumps


• Follow manufacturing travelers and blueprints to meet product specifications


• Welding any size pump as needed for production output


• Leak detection of any size pump as part of welding


• Fix and/or troubleshoot all issues associated with welding process


• Take actions to repair/fabricate all weldments as needed to attempt to minimize scrap


• Calculate material measurements to verify specifications


• Conduct tests to evaluate weld quality and tolerance


• Follow quality procedures and document as necessary


• Drives manufacturability improvements through Engineering


• Weld prototype products as part of new product development process


• Maintain commitment to safety, ethics, professionalism, and teamwork.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience

• Previous and current experience in welding, manufacturing, or other related fields


• Minimum of 8 years of TIG welding experience at previous employer and/or Gamma


• TIG welding experience on Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) required


• Expert of all forms of welding materials/metals


• Expert understanding of welding tools and procedures


• Expert understanding of engineering blueprints, schematics, and weld symbols


• Ability to handle physical workload


• Willing to mentor and teach others


• No supervision required

Other duties as assigned
