Job Description:

The Welder II is responsible for performing skilled welding tasks to support the production of manufactured products, ensuring quality and efficiency standards are met. This role contributes to departmental objectives by executing more complex welds, maintaining productivity, and supporting process improvements. The Welder II works with minimal supervision and collaborates with team members to ensure consistent output and quality. This position also plays a key role in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.



Primary Duties:


  • Perform intermediate to advanced welding tasks on production components, ensuring welds meet quality and structural standards.

  • Operate welding equipment to complete tack welds, continuous welds, and multi-pass welds as required by specifications.

  • Use cutting and grinding tools to prepare, shape, and finish metal components.

  • Select appropriate materials, electrodes, and settings to optimize welding performance and quality.

  • Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and defects, and perform rework as necessary.

  • Read and interpret basic technical drawings and work instructions to complete welding tasks accurately.

  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while handling equipment and materials.

  • Assist in troubleshooting welding issues and recommend process improvements.

  • Support training and guidance of entry-level welders as needed.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.

  • Coordinate with team members to maintain workflow and meet production goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2+ years of experience in welding, manufacturing, or a related field, Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Technical training or welding certification preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Working knowledge of welding techniques, processes, and equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings and specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic welding issues.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.



Essential and Physical Functions


  • Frequent standing for extended periods throughout the work shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.

  • Use of fine and gross motor skills for welding, grinding, and material handling.

  • Visual acuity to inspect weld quality and identify defects.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to changing production needs.



Work Environment

Perform all tasks on-site in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust, and welding fumes. Regular exposure to noise from machinery and equipment. Work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and equipment. Compliance with all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Regular interaction with production team members and supervisors. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmets, and protective clothing. This role is classified as a Safety Sensitive Position, requiring heightened awareness and adherence to all safety protocols to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
