Engineered Products is currently seeking a skilled and reliable Welder II/Fabricator to join our production team. This position requires a highly competent welder who also has hands-on fabrication experience and can read and interpret blueprints to build metal components for racking systems with precision. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and experienced in MIG welding and custom metal fabrication in a manufacturing setting.
Perform MIG welding on structural steel components using proper techniques to meet production and quality standards.
Fabricate metal parts and assemblies according to blueprints, schematics, and work orders, ensuring accuracy in dimensions and welds.
Operate fabrication tools and equipment, including shears, brakes, saws, grinders, torches, and plasma cutters.
Inspect and prepare materials prior to welding and fabrication to ensure conformance to specifications.
Layout and tack-weld structures, frames, and custom components based on technical drawings.
Perform fit-up and alignment of fabricated parts, ensuring correct dimensions, angles, and structural integrity.
Conduct in-process inspections and post-weld checks to verify weld quality and proper fabrication.
Make minor adjustments or repairs to welded assemblies as needed to meet quality standards.
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE while working around hot metal, welding arcs, and heavy machinery.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and report any faulty equipment or hazards to supervision.
Assist with training junior welders or fabricators as directed.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the welding/fabrication department.
High school diploma or GED required; completion of a welding certificate or technical program preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Demonstrated fabrication experience is required—must be able to cut, fit, and assemble steel components independently.
Proficient in MIG welding (GMAW); ability to pass a weld test required.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
Skilled in using hand and power tools, fabrication machinery, and measuring instruments (tape measure, calipers, squares).
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.
Basic math skills and attention to detail are essential.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks safely and effectively.
Experience working with structural steel or industrial racking systems.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S standards.
Forklift or overhead crane certification a plus.
Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) are desirable.
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment with regular exposure to welding fumes, heat, sparks, and noise.
Must wear appropriate PPE including gloves, helmet, eye protection, and steel-toed boots.
May be required to work overtime or flexible hours to meet production schedules.
