Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Welder II to join our night shift team. Hours are Monday-Thursday 5pm-3:30am. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of welding in a manufacturing industry.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform welding duties using MIG, TIG, Wire Welder, Spot Welder and/or oxy/acetylene torch.
- Clean and dress welds as required
- Set up and lay out work using material handling equipment or hand layouts to fabricate or rework finished products.
- Manual set up of handheld sanders, grinders, wire wheels or other finishing handheld tools.
- Welding I-Beam, Frame and Fuel Tanks in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
- Clamp, hold, tack weld, drill, mill, tap, cut and/or bolt together components to obtain required configuration and positions for complete welding process.
- Inspect products, equipment and tools for defect and malfunction.
- Create quality welds according to blueprints/specifications.
- Inspect all welds and re-work as necessary.
- Change wire and gas on weld machine as necessary.
- Ensure equipment properly set up and used in a safe manner during welding process.
- Maintain welding equipment and machines, inspect regularly and request maintenance as needed.
- Assist/participate in fuel tank pressure testing as required and rework as necessary.
- Perform work to timely standard and quality expectations.
- Account for time and work completed through means of weekly timesheets.
- Report and document basic material, production, quality or safety issues to direct supervisor or management.

Required Education/Training
- High School or Equivalent
- Vocational/Prior Welding Education
- MIG Welding Certification Required
- TIG Welding Certification a plus
- Flux-Core a plus
Qualification/Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience, or demonstrated proficiency by testing
- Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools
- Basic mathematical skills and knowledge in use of measurement tools
Certifications:
- AWS, SENSE, or documentation to support other successful testing
Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS):
- Welding of various types of Structural Steel, Sheet Steel Plate, Formed Steel Plate, and other Extruded type structure
- Proficiency in performing Gas Metal Arc Welding, in multiple positions
- Proficiency in Gas Metal Arc Welding Spray and Pulse Spray, recognize technique issues and resolve them
- Perform visual inspection of Welds and identify discrepancies prior to final inspection and correct any defects identified
- Assist with//participate in fuel tank pressure testing and following the process for acceptance
- Must be able to fabricate, read, and use measuring instruments, blueprint reading at elementary level
