Job summary

SOC LLC seeks a Welder II for our Bridgeton, MO facility. The role builds large aluminum frame assemblies per blueprints, with GTAW aluminum up to 3/8" thick in G2/G3, TIG washing processes and Aluminum GMAW. Hours are 3:00PM–1:30AM, Monday–Thursday.

Contract duration minimum six months with potential extension. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, meeting AWS/ASME codes, coordinating with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Sales, and performing inspections

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years welding experience.
  • Experience with GTAW Aluminum G2 and G3.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols (AWS A2.4).

Responsibilities

  • Weld per blueprints and specifications in all positions.
  • Meet AWS/ASME codes and standards.
  • Read weld symbols and NDE symbols and interpret criteria.

Job description

Welder II needed for an opportunity with SOC's client to work in Bridgeton, MO.

Hours: 3:00PM to 1:30AM Monday – Thursday

Our client is seeking multiple Welder II Contractors for their Bridgeton, MO facility. This position will be responsible for building large aluminum frame assemblies per blueprints, schematics, and company standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with GTAW Aluminum up to 3/8" thick in G2 and G3 Positions, TIG washing prosses and Aluminum GMAW. This contract is expected to last a minimum of 6 months and could be extended if needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Understand requirements, possess appropriate skills, and perform various welding processes in all positions on products of all applicable metals
  • Weld with a high degree of proficiency, experience, and knowledge, able to meet various codes and specifications including AWS and ASME
  • Know, qualify, and perform the following: MIG: carbon steels, stainless steel, and aluminum and combination; TIG: stainless steel, aluminum, and combination; Flux Core: carbon steels, stainless steel, and combination
  • Perform material preparation, open set-up, and fit to meet process requirements proficiently in all required operations
  • Read blueprints, weld symbols and NDE symbols and interpret acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate effective communication regarding production processes with other departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Sales
  • Accurately perform visual inspection of weldments to confirm compliance to various codes and standards
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance on all equipment
  • Share technical requirements, techniques, safety information, etc. with peers
  • If required, perform all aspects of inspection: in-process, final, and source; allocate partial points - 3 points in-process - 3 points final - 4 points source
  • Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.
  • Follow written work instructions.
  • Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet special needs.
  • May perform more detailed task that require deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and procedures.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
  • Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departments
  • Resolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels
  • Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues
  • Be a self-starter and demonstrate good decision-making ability
  • Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS)
  • Proper use of required PPE
  • May periodically assist in orienting and training lower-level employees
  • May participate in LEAN Events, "Six S" activities, action teams etc.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in welding
  • Experience with GTAW Aluminum G2 and G3
  • Knowledge of welding symbols (AWS A2.4)

  • Successful completion of a background investigation, and drug urinalysis.
