Job Description

BAE Systems is hiring a Welder at our Aiken, SC location. The role involves setting up and operating weld equipment to MIG, TIG, or spot weld parts according to blueprint specifications.

Responsibilities include:

• Load and unload parts onto weld tables and fixtures using hand tools, ratchets, or air tools to secure parts.
• Check parts against quality specifications.
• Troubleshoot problems and recommend or implement corrective actions.
• Use hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts to move parts, materials, containers, and fixtures.
• Complete paperwork related to work orders, labor, time reporting, and quality records.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Train other team members.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Note: Welders who do not pass our certification test can participate in our training program to become certified.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• High school diploma with at least 1 year of welding experience and ability to pass weld qualification tests.
• Ability to apply shop math, read blueprints, and calculate dimensions.
• Understanding of work orders, machine controls, fixtures, and tool requirements.
• Ability to operate weld torch, foot and hand controls.
• Ability to operate scissors lifts, requiring a 27-inch step-up and working at heights up to 15 feet.
• Ability to lift and apply torque of 30 pounds.
• Ability to operate hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts (certification required for forklifts).

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Knowledge of multiple welding processes.
• Ability to apply WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
• Knowledge of different weld types and joints.
• Understanding of discontinuities and defect mitigation.

Pay Information

Salary range: $42,436 - $67,898. Compensation depends on various factors including skills, education, experience, and market conditions.
