Description

General Summary

The Shop Welder is responsible for setting up and operating welding equipment to fabricate and assemble metal structures and products according to client and engineering specifications.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to safety standards and practices, alerting others to potential hazards.
  2. Performs all duties as assigned, aligning with TEAM's Core Values.
  3. Operates or tends welding machines to join or bond components, fabricating metal products as per specifications.
  4. Reads and interprets production schedules and specifications to plan work and select appropriate welding methods.
  5. Prepares components for welding according to specifications.
  6. Performs testing and inspection of welded surfaces to identify flaws.
  7. Maintains welding equipment to meet safety standards.
  8. Documents welding activities accurately.
Job Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Relevant industry experience or vocational training required.
  3. At least 1 year of experience in machine welding, including orbital and automated welding.
  4. Ability to pass a standard Code Welder exam.
  5. Proficiency in GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding techniques.
  6. Preferred: Ability to read engineering specifications.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Current TWIC card or ability to obtain one required.
  9. Travel: 0-25% as needed.
Work Conditions
  1. Position based at a branch or site location.
  2. Indoor and outdoor work in plant environments, often around noisy machinery.
  3. Interaction with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  4. Use of safety equipment required.
  5. Potential for travel to multiple job sites and exposure to climate variations.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  1. Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  2. Walk, climb, and perform physical tasks as needed.
  3. Effective communication skills.
  4. Good vision and observation capabilities.
  5. Manual dexterity for routine tasks.
  6. Mobility to navigate plant environments, including access to elevated areas.
  7. Ability to focus, multitask, and communicate effectively.
