Job summary

DIS-TRAN Steel in Pineville, LA, is seeking experienced Welders to join our FAB Plant during day shifts. You will work with welded components, read blueprints, and ensure welds meet AWS D1.1 standards.

Candidates should be able to read weld symbols, operate MIG (GMAW) welds, use gauges, and pass DIS-TRAN Steel’s Welder II qualification. This on-site role offers steady day-shift work and a culture of safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and read a tape measure required.
• Welding certification or prior welding experience with successful passing of DIS-TRAN Steel’s Welder II test required.
• Capable of producing complete joint penetration welds that meet all visual and ultrasonic inspection per AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code.
• Ability to read welding symbols and prepare joints; GMAW experience preferred.

• Examines work pieces for defects and measures with weld gauges to ensure conformance with specifications and standard operating procedures.

• Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Examines steel or workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
• Moves parts safely into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
• Produces complete joint penetration welds that meet visual and ultrasonic inspection.
• Capable of reading and understanding welding symbols.
• Prepares all joints as required by AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code.
• Welds components in flat position.

• Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery such as cranes preferred.
• Production speeds exceed training/learning pace and often look for improvement in processes.
