Job summary

Hillphoenix in Centerville, IA is seeking a Welder II to join our Operations team. This hourly, non-exempt role focuses on welding and joining metal components, filling seams and holes, and maintaining high quality workmanship on fabricated products.

You will read and interpret blueprints, lay out parts, position and secure assemblies, and perform welds in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Safety and teamwork are essential as you support production needs.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow written and verbal communication or instruction
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straight edges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
• Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing situations
• Identify maintenance needed on equipment and tooling
• Work at different workstations as production needs require
• Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
• Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on individual\'s product line or work cell
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

What You'll Be Responsible For In This Role
