Job summary

Frontier Technologies, now part of Gexpro Services, is seeking a Welder Helper I in Brewton, AL. You will assist welders, prepare surfaces, and maintain a safe, organized welding area. This is an entry-level position requiring a high school diploma or GED and basic measurement skills.

Responsibilities include material prep, surface cleaning, grinding, deburring, and aiding welding operations. A background check and drug test are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Able to read and interpret work instructions.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Able to perform math in standard and metric units.
• Able to read/use tape measure, calipers and micrometers.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist welders and fabricators with material preparation for welding operations.
• Remove mill scale, paint, residue and rust from product to ensure clean surfaces.
• Prepare surfaces for welding, including grinding, deburring and cutting.
• Self-inspect products before and after weld preparation for quality standards.
• Transport and position materials for welding, using hoists or manual handling.
• Hold or secure parts during welding and fabrication process.
• Deburr and grind materials.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocol.
• Clean and maintain welding tools, machinery, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Welder and Fabricator III
