Job summary

Custom Engineering Company in Erie, Pennsylvania is seeking 1st and 2nd shift Welder/Fitter for plate and structural fabrication work. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $23.00 per hour, with a $2.00 second shift differential.

You will read shop drawings, fit and weld carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum using FCAW, MCAW, MIG, TIG and other processes, and operate cranes and forklifts. This position offers strong benefits and opportunities for growth within a heavy fabrication shop.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret shop drawings and specs.
• Pass various weld tests as required.
• Understand standard welding symbols and procedures.
• Basic math skills for measurements and tolerances.
• 1–3 years of related fabrication experience; crane/forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read shop drawings and set up welding equipment per WPS.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions across materials.
• Move parts with overhead cranes and forklifts as needed.
• Produce welds meeting drawings and customer specifications.

About this position

Description: We are currently seeking 1st and 2nd shift Welder / Fitter for plate and structural fabrication work.$19.00- $23.00 ( $2.00 2nd shift differential)

• Basic knowledge of fitting plate, structural material and pipe utilizing shop drawings, specifications and travelers
• Use torches to cut/cope beams, cut/bevel plates and heat straighten parts
• Knowledge of fitting and welding various materials; carbon steel, stainless steel, inconel and aluminum
• Welding processes may include; Flux-cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Metal-cored Arc Welding (MCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and Submerged Arc Weld (SAW)
• Perform welding in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions
• Produce consistent welds in accordance with shop drawings and customer specifications
• Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS) to set up welding machines and check weld sizes with company-issued weld gages
• Run overhead cranes and forklifts when necessary to move parts throughout the shop
