Key Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain current MSHA certification and a valid driver’s license, ensuring compliance with all safety and operational regulations.
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to safety by consistently working in accordance with company safety protocols and actively promoting a safety‑first mindset among all team members.
  • Proactively participate in safety programs by completing FLRA’s Field Level Risk Assessments, Near Miss Cards, and Safety Observations to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the work environment.
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) if required for transportation needs within field service operations.
  • Apply expertise with a variety of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux‑Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) electrodes to perform high‑quality welds across different materials and components.
  • Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment requirements, including the use of respirators or fresh air hoods as necessary, ensuring safe operations in varying environmental conditions.
  • Utilize carbon arc gouging techniques effectively to remove defective welds and prepare surfaces for repair, maintaining structural integrity and equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot welding‑related issues on heavy equipment, delivering efficient and durable repair solutions at customer sites.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance and engineering teams to assess repair requirements and implement corrective actions that minimize downtime and enhance equipment longevity.
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding tools and machinery such as wire feeders and welding machines, ensuring all equipment functions optimally to support field operations.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Acquire basic to intermediate welding experience through vocational training programs, apprenticeships, internships, or practical on‑the‑job training.
  • Familiarity with welding safety protocols, proper usage of welding equipment, and understanding of fundamental welding techniques.
  • Aptitude for learning and applying new welding processes and technologies as required by evolving field service demands.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the physical ability to complete welding tasks in diverse and sometimes challenging outdoor conditions.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and to accurately document work performed and safety reports.
