Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Welder and Fabricator to fabricate metal enclosures and structures in a climate-controlled Henrico, VA facility. You will read blueprints, interpret instructions, and weld using MIG and gas-shielded flux core processes, handling carbon steel from 16-gauge to 0.5 inches.

The role emphasizes precision, fixture design, and safe operation of fabrication machinery with extended hours during peak demand. This is a contract-to-hire onsite opportunity in a 4/10 schedule environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of welding and fabrication experience.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding, including production MIG welding.
  • Experience with gas-shielded flux core welding.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and assembly instructions.
  • Demonstrated skill in fabricating metal enclosures and structures.
  • Proficiency with metal fabricating machinery and hand tools.
  • Ability to work with 16-gauge to 0.5″ carbon steel.
  • Strong attention to detail and precise measurement accuracy.
  • Ability to set up machinery for fabricating operations.
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass.

Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description

This role focuses on fabricating and welding metal enclosures and structures using a variety of welding processes and metalworking tools. You read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions, work primarily with MIG and gas-shielded flux core welding on 16-gauge to 0.5″ carbon steel, and ensure all products meet precise specifications and dimensions. You also design and build fixtures that support efficient and accurate production.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a clean, well-lit, climate-controlled facility designed for comfort and productivity. Normal scheduling is a 4/10 workweek, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours currently available due to high demand. Recent schedules have included Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., though this level of overtime is not expected to be permanent. The environment involves regular use of welding equipment, fabrication machinery, and hand tools, with no travel required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 – $28.00/hr.
