To strengthen our team in Charleston, we are looking for you as a(n) Welder, Central Maintenance Shop.

The Apparatus Shop (Welder) Technician will provide fabrication and repair services to WACKER Charleston per all applicable ASME, NBIC, ASTM, and AWS codes and specifications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Executes weld scopes from fitting to final testing in the Weld (Apparatus) Shop, ensuring work meets all applicable codes and specifications
  • Performs fabrication and repair scopes of work as assigned, demonstrating proficiency with industrial fabrication and rigging equipment
  • Rigging knowledge and expertise
  • Maintains proficiency with Shop PQRs (3G/6G carbon/stainless at present, will increase with Shop capabilities)

Qualifications Required:

  • HS diploma required; Associate degree, Journeyman, or technical certificate (CWI) from a qualified welding / machining vocational school are preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience working in the fabrication/welding field; pipe/tube welding is preferred
  • Must demonstrate the ability to pass 6G weld certification, either carbon or stainless
  • Possess a working understanding of all pertinent ASMF, NBIC, ASTM, and AWS codes and specifications
  • Proficient utilizing weld procedures (including weld maps, WPS requirements, and ISO's as necessary) for work orders to be executed by the Weld Shop as provided by Mechanical Integrity, QA, and Engineering
  • Demonstrates proficiency operating and the safe use of industrial fabrication shop equipment (including, but not limited to light machining, brakes, ironworkers, pipe-beveling equipment, and others as required)
  • Proficient in principals and execution of rigging (critical/large lifts) inside C316
