Job description

Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, owning and operating approximately 79,000 miles of pipeline. We are currently looking to hire a Welder for our Pipeline Project Support Division.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Coordinate and complete welding, construction, and maintenance tasks as part of a roving pipeline crew.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform pipe fabrication welds, in-service welds, tie-in welds, and hot taps on steel pipelines of various sizes up to 42" O.D. on natural gas and product pipelines.
2. Possess knowledge of or experience in mobilizing, operating, and maintaining heavy excavation equipment, including working on in-service natural gas pipelines.
3. Read and interpret engineering construction blueprints.
4. Scope, plan, estimate, track costs, and schedule work and resources for projects.
5. Operate trucks, welding rigs, and trailers for hauling equipment or materials.
6. Assist Pipeline Specialists with field checks prior to excavation.
7. Locate and mark pipelines using pipeline locating equipment or probe rods, referencing drawings and alignment sheets.
8. Inspect coating, remove coating, and prepare surfaces for coating application on buried pipes.
9. Calibrate and maintain holiday detectors for coating inspection.
10. Perform ultrasonic thickness examinations.
11. Install pipeline hot taps on in-service pipelines.
12. Review pressure test plans according to pipe and material specifications.
13. Conduct pressure testing of pipelines and fabrications.
14. Disassemble meter tubes and perform internal cleaning.
15. Repair pig launchers and receivers, closures, and install pig signals.
16. Repair shorted pipeline casings and install CP test points.
17. Evacuate, purge, and load pipelines; operate pipeline air-movers during hot work operations.
18. Install full encirclement sleeves for anomaly repairs.
19. Install mainline valve settings, valves, and fittings.
20. Modify existing and install new measurement facilities.
21. Promote and embody Kinder Morgan's core values.
22. Maintain a high regard for personal safety, company assets, employees, and the public.
23. Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
24. Assist with excavation spotter tasks, foreign pipeline crossings, pigging operations, internal pipeline cleaning, pipeline removal, and installation.
25. Provide direction to subcontractors working on company assets and facilities.
