Qualifications

Description

Westerman, Inc., an employee-owned company, is a multiple site manufacturer of production and storage equipment within the oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Our equipment helps optimize well pad design, improve separation efficiency and lower overall equipment spend through high-performance surface separation and processing technology. Our equipment is setting new standards for performance and economics nationwide.

SUMMARY

This is an apprentice level role for establishing the skills of first level welders. It is expected most individuals hired into this position will proceed to their departmental placement within 6 months or less. A successful candidate is self-motivated and utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all quality levels are met and career progression is established.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Regular and punctual attendance at work is an essential job function of each position and is necessary to your individual effectiveness and that of your work group. Regular and punctual attendance is required of all employees.

  1. Sets up welding machine to MIG or Flux Core wire as needed to meet production and quality standards.
  2. Assists Welders in fit up, grinding, cutting, and equipment setup.
  3. Assists in layout of tanks and pressure vessel parts.
  4. Safely operates and performs SMAW, GMAW or SAW duties.
  5. Safely operates various hand/air/power tools.
  6. Learns to properly identify and document vessel parts/components.
  7. Assists assigned mentor as necessary.
  8. Inspects and welds all parts ensuring there are no welding flaws, discontinuities, or defects with mentor’s guidance.
  9. Completes 90-day checklist.
  10. Complies with the 5 As of performance (Attendance, Attitude, Adaptability, Accident-free, and Accountability).
  11. Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  12. Organizes work area with instruction from group leaders to meet production demands.
  13. Other duties as required and assigned.

SALARY

  • $17 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS

  2. Welding Certificate and/or 0-6 months of previous welding or equivalent knowledge required.
  3. Must be able to pass weld skill pre-employment assessment.
  4. Practice and pass basic ASME welder performance qualification tests if applicable.
  5. Intermediate math skills and ability to read a tape measure required.
  6. Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes required.
  7. Must be able to count and label parts accurately.
  8. Must be able to learn pressure gauges and how to read them.
  9. Ability to read and understand blueprints strongly preferred.
