Job summary

Petrosmith-Equipment in Abilene, TX is seeking a skilled fabrication/maintenance worker to grind, polish, sand and sharpen welded parts to meet prints and customer needs. The role requires using hand tools, welding equipment, and maintaining safe, orderly work areas.

You will support welders, handle inventory movement to the pipe department, and contribute to continuous process improvements. A high school diploma or equivalent and welding certification are preferred; 2 years of related equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Welding certification or technical school training preferred.
• 2 years of equipment experience with grinding and welding processes.

Responsibilities

• Grind, polish, sand and sharpen welded parts to match prints.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work area and equipment.
• Move inventory and parts to/from pipe department as needed.
• Assist welders and support continuous process improvements.
• Perform other duties related to the role.

Responsibilities

• Grind, polish, sand and sharpen welded parts to ensure conformance to established customer needs and prints
• Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition. Follow all safety work rules.
• Handle assorted raw materials, steel parts, and steel scrap.
• Performs precision smoothing, sharpening, polishing, or grinding on a variety of welded assemblies
• Responsible for the movement of necessary inventory and parts to and from the pipe department.
• Assist Welders; Participate in and support continuous process improvements.
• Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the classification.

Skills

• Proven experience with hand tools and equipment
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Knowledge of relative safety standards
