Job description

Job Summary:

Requires the use of metal forming and material joining techniques in order to fulfill the welding/fabrication requirements of Allegheny Bradford, its customers and governing bodies.

Hourly position on 2nd shift. 2nd shift is M-Th 3:30pm – 2:00am (training will be on your hired shift). Trainings may occur on 1st shift. Position requires the ability to work over-time, which may include arriving early or working on normally scheduled days off.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to perform the following metal joining techniques – Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) / Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)
  • Ability to read, understand and act upon blueprints and drawings
  • Utilize varying inspection tools – tape measure, digital level, calipers, and fillet weld gauge
  • Ability to effectively communicate status of work to supervisor in written/oral form
  • Ability to safely operate lifting devices – fork lift, cranes
  • Adhere to defined dimensions and tolerances and recording the accuracy of such.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Post high school degree or certificate from certified trade school, college or university; or high school diploma or equivalent with associated on-the-job welding training/experience.
  • Ability to work from written and verbal English language instruction.
  • Ability to write clearly in English language for others to read and understand.
  • Ability to follow documented written work instructions and video procedures.

Tools and Technology Skills:

Regular use of hand and power tools including but not limited to: grinders, saws, torches, welding units, drill presses, flame-cutting equipment, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, overhead cranes, gas welders, metal benders, shears, ladders, scaffolding, gauges, levels, measurement equipment, welding tips, and pipe cutters.

A Welder works on the production floor and must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb. You must also be able to reach above and below your shoulder and have fine finger manipulation. You must be able to work in an environment that is considered dusty and dirty (metal dust).

Starting rate based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. Plus .50¢ shift differential.
