Job summary

Nucor Corporation in Lacrosse, VA is seeking a skilled welder to assemble steel structural parts per drawings, operate grinders, flip-rite, transfers, and a magnetic drill.

The role requires a WQ1 (2G) weld certification; reading weld symbols is a plus, and prior material handling experience is preferred. Safety is the top priority.

This is a full-time, on-site position with a strong emphasis on teamwork, quality workmanship, and adherence to all safety policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Weld steel structural parts per drawing or print.
• Operate grinder to finish welds.
• Operate Flip-Rite and transfers.
• Operate magnetic drill.
• Perform full visual inspection of welds.
• Communicate with upstream and downstream teams on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Uphold safety policies and housekeeping standards.

Basic Job Functions:

• Welding steel structural parts as specified per drawing or print.
• Operating grinder to prepare and finish welds.
• Operating flip rite.
• Operating transfers.
• Operating magnetic drill.
• Full visual inspection of part ensuring all welds are in place and properly applied.
• Effectively communicating with upstream and downstream to address safety, quality and efficiency issues/concerns.
• Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• WQ1 (2G) weld certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Can read and understand weld symbols
• Previous experience in material handling
