Job description

Welder - 2nd Shift (Shift Differential!) (Finance)
  • Fabricate, fit, and cut materials to meet blueprint standards.
  • Perform GMAW and/or FCAW welding using various arc and gas welding equipment.
  • Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces with hand tools and portable power tools.
  • Operate and understand all equipment within the work area (cell).
  • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials, applying shop math and layout techniques.
  • Inspect assemblies and components for conformance to specifications.
  • Read and interpret schematics (blueprints) and work orders.
  • Use basic hand tools such as tape measures and specialty equipment.
  • Perform rework as needed.
  • Maintain daily time records and other required documentation.
  • Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives and participate in continuous improvement events.
  • Move to different work areas to support production needs (cross-train).
  • Train new and current associates effectively.
  • Follow established safety, environmental, and quality policies, including proper PPE use.
  • Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.
  • Show commitment to Altec's core values.
Basic Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be able to read, write, and comprehend effectively.
  • Have basic computer skills.
  • Be able to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Have a welding tech degree/certificate or 2+ years of applicable welding experience (consideration given if degree is in process).
  • Obtain AWS D.1.1 weld certification within three months of hire.

Organization & Compensation

Wage: $24.07/hour - $30.29/hour plus a 2nd shift differential of $1.50/hour.
