Job summary

Tenneco Litchfield is seeking an experienced welder to join a factory team responsible for welding exhaust components.

You will perform Mig and Tig welding, set up equipment, and inspect welds to ensure specifications. The role requires teamwork, adherence to safety standards, and willingness to rotate across workstations within the cell.

Qualifications

Welders start at $25.47 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift premium. Additional pay increases at 6 months and 1 year of employment.

Tenneco Litchfield is a manufacturing facility belonging to the Clean Air division of Tenneco. Our primarily focus is producing full exhaust systems and related components for OEM’s (Automotive Plants)and aftermarket parts. Our major customers are General Motors, Ford, Toyota, VW, Nissan, and many aftermarket vehicle replacement parts. We have 3 departments known as Canning, Bending and Final assembly. Canning is the production zone where catalytic converters and different filters are assembled and sealed inside their metal outer shells. Our bending department is responsible for shaping straight metal in complex, curved shapes to fit under the vehicle, and tail pipes. Final assembly at the end of the shop is where, bent pipe, stuffed cans, hangers and flanges are all welded together to make a vehicle ready exhaust system.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Apply appropriate welding process to meet specifications, inspect and repair welds as needed to support the production and assembly of exhaust pipe components. Perform as an active team member in performing other tasks within the cell. Participate in cell level BOS meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Handle materials and tools, set-up complete appropriate weld processes and inspect all welds and products to assure weld specifications are met.
• 2. Perform as a team member of a cellular operating group, which requires the ability to learn, perform and rotate to other workstations within the cell.
• 3. Perform the above within acceptable quality, quantity, performance and safety standards.
• 4. Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on welding equipment to assure good, safe working conditions and complete daily forms.
• 5. Apply appropriate welding process to weld and repair welds on parts per specifications.
• 6. Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
• 7. Overtime as required/requested.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Obtain supplies and parts required doing the job and performing proper setup of welding power supplies and controls.
• 2. Inspect all welds to assure each meets quality standards, troubleshoot problems and make adjustments as required.
• 3. Assist other employees in cell group when welding is not required
• 4. Clean welding station and maintain neatness in the surrounding work areas.
• 5. Assist the team in 5S advancements
• 6. Assist in the implementation of Lean Principles.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge, skills, experience of welding processes such as Mig and Tig.
• Ability to set up welder, apply appropriate weld process, inspect weld and make necessary adjustments
• Ability to read and understand work orders, directions, charts, forms and safety regulations
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Ability to correctly use and read various gauges
• Ability to work well with other employees in a team concept

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Extensive sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, torso twisting, hand and arm motion
