Job summary

Forma-Fab Metals in North Carolina is seeking a skilled welder to join our fabrication team. You will analyze blueprints, set up equipment, and perform MIG and TIG welds on carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless, ensuring accuracy and adherence to our workmanship standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma with minimum 2 years welding experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience with MIG and TIG welding for carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless.
• Proficient with hand and power tools; ERP data entry.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints/drawings, specifications, sketches, work orders to plan welding operations.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment for optimal performance.
• Perform MIG and TIG welds on heavy and light gauge metals with good penetration.
• Layout and align parts using calipers, squares, and rulers.
• Report non-conforming material to Welding Team Leader or Shop Foreman.
• Work with various hand and power tools as required.
• Input and maintain data in ERP system/Global, and complete paperwork.
• Maintain weld equipment and supplies; work overtime as needed.

Shift: Monday-Thursday 4:30 pm - 2:00 am, overtime as needed

Position Summary

To weld and fabricate parts in accordance with specifications and per company workmanship standards by performing the following functions.

Essential Functions

• Analyze blueprints/drawings, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
• Set up and adjust equipment
• Perform efficient welding of various metal objects, including heavy and light gauge carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless, using both MIG and TIG equipment
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
• Report all non-conforming material to the Welding Team Leader and/or Shop Foreman immediately
• Perform work with the help of various hand and power tools
• Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global
• Maintain weld equipment and supplies
• Complete paperwork/job sheets required for the area
• Must maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• HS education with a minimum of 2 years of welding experience
• Possess a solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols
• Must be able to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes
• Must have the ability to weld in all positions with good penetration and quality
• Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level,l, and square
• Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently
• Excellent verbal communication skills
