Job summary

EIMCo in Farley, IA is seeking welders to perform manual and robotic welding to specification in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include setup, jig fabrication, first-piece inspections, QA sign-off, and detailed production recordkeeping while following all safety rules and PPE requirements. Opportunities for career progression and comprehensive benefits are available.

Responsibilities

  • Check with department supervisor on machine and job assignment.

  • Fabricate welding jigs when necessary.
  • Create inspection checklist for first-time jobs.
  • Conduct first-piece inspection and obtain QC approval.
  • Adjust machines or programs based on inspection results.
  • Weld parts manually or robotically to specifications.
  • Unload and package parts per standards and customer requirements.
  • Record daily job data in Shop Traveler and ERP system.
  • Follow Shop Traveler, Inspection Sheets, and blueprints.
  • Inform QC or supervisor of problems or concerns with parts.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area and follow 5S.

Job description

Check with department supervisor on machine assignment and job assignment.

Discuss with current welder from preceding shift about the machine’s performance and any possible difficulties encountered during the course of the shift.

Set-up welding equipment in accordance with specified set-up procedures and within acceptable set-up requirements.

Fabricate welding jigs when necessary.

Create inspection checklist for first-time jobs.

Conduct and document a first-piece inspection and obtain approval from Quality Control before proceeding.

Perform adjustments on machines and/or programs as needed, based upon results of first-piece inspections.

Weld parts, manually or robotically, according to specifications and within acceptable production requirements.

Unload and package parts according to EIMCo standards and customer requirements.

Complete accurate daily records (date, times, quantities of parts ran, and scrap) for every job worked on, on Shop Travelers and in the ERP system.

Follow instructions from all EIMCo documentation, including: Shop Traveler, Inspection Sheets, and blueprints.

Inform quality control, shift supervisor/ lead person of any problems or concerns with parts.

Accept responsibility for the quality of products/services provided and perform all required inspections in accordance with the EIMCo Quality Manual.

Perform required preventive maintenance on equipment, watch and listen for abnormal conditions, and report any concerns to maintenance and/or shift supervisor/lead immediately.

Maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly manner and comply with all 5S procedures.

Conduct all tasks and behaviors in a safe manner and comply with all EIMCO Safety Policies, including the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, as outlined in the EIMCo Safety Manual.

Maintain all required documentation.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Mechanical skills background required. One to two years of welding experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred, but not required. Formal education or experience may be substituted with training when competency in the position is demonstrated.

Working Conditions:

This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment processes. The temperature of the facility will vary based on the outside weather conditions. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance and may include overtime as deemed necessary by management.
