Job Summary

This position performs work on joining, surfacing, fabricating, or repairing structures or parts of metal as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, work order welding procedures, or oral instructions using electric arc welding or acetylene equipment. The incumbent works under general supervision, performing work activities according to company operating procedures for safety compliance. May be assigned to work on a rig or truck if needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs repair on equipment and/or structures for problems in accordance with company and industry standards and safety procedures.
2. Performs maintenance, repair, fabricating, welding, remodeling, and construction on various metal products from samples and sketches.
3. Performs manual forging, shaping, straightening, sizing, dressing, and heat treating of metal products. Operates acetylene torch, welding machine, MIG machine, grinders, etc., to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to specifications.
4. Maintains equipment and work area, ensuring a clean, safe, hazard-free environment, and proper functioning of equipment.
5. Maintains stock of necessary supplies and keeps records of materials used and hours worked for billing.
6. May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
7. May diagnose and inspect equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of welding experience or equivalent is highly preferred.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to operate various welding equipment safely.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and charts.
• Ability to work in a team and perform under various weather and physical conditions.
• Effective communication skills and understanding of safety regulations.
• Skills to repair and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.
