Description
Position Summary:
The Welder 1 is an entry level welder. This position will require internal certification as a Perma-Pipe Mig Welder (GMAW) with experience in welding pipe systems in industrial or construction settings. This position is responsible for performing high-quality welds on pipe materials using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and MIG welding (GMAW) processes while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform GMAW & SMAW on various types of piping materials including carbon steel and stainless steel.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols to determine job requirements.
- Prepare materials and work area for welding, including cutting, fitting, and tack welding.
- Inspect welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with specifications and codes.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Perma-Pipe Internal Certification in MIG Welding (GMAW) – REQUIRED.
- Minimum 6 months experience or combination of experience and education in welding or related field.
- Ability to pass an Internal Casing Weld Test.
- Basic understanding of pipe fitting and fabrication processes.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- PRE-Requisite: PRC-PRD-028 – Internal Stick & MIG Assessment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional welding certifications (TIG, MIG, etc.)
- Experience working in industrial, petrochemical, or construction environments.
